My brother dressed as Waldo
My family is full of crazy ideas, some are more crazy then others, most, in my opinion, are awesome. So, when my brother told me last year he was going to dress up like Waldo (he fits the description well), I jumped at the opportunity to help him out. He rounded up four friends who dressed as the other Waldo characters (Wenda, Woof, Odlaw, & Wizard Whitebeard) and they scheduled an afternoon to spend in downtown Chicago wandering the streets. We spread the word via online and around a hundred people showed up to fulfill their childhood dreams hunting for Waldo in real life.
They decided to do it again this year, complete with all characters and a competition with prizes. We created a website, used Facebook and Twitter to build buzz and spread the word, and they planned the hunt for July 4th, right at the end of Taste of Chicago. I helped create the online buzz, which, seeing as I’m two states away, was as much as I could do. The whole event was quite a success. Plenty of publicity online and the actual days festivities where great too. Here’s some links to the web stuff I helped with.
